Sweet potatoes

We were glad to get the sweet potatoes dug last week before the wet weather and the forecast frosts.  We grew over a dozen varieties this year including many new ones given to us by a friend who grows over a hundred varieties.  They are a beautiful colorful assortment.

I grew sweet potatoes for the first time this year. Had no idea there were so many varieties! The slips arrived all moldy and my hopes were not high, especially when I dug the first plant and found no fat tubers at all. Let the plants go for another month or two, finally decided to dig, and bang, whallop! I had sweet potatoes that were the Titans of all sweet potatoes. The weather was too cool for curing, so many grew white fuzzy mold where they were damaged. Baked the rest and mashed 'em up, put 'em in the freezer.
